Amanda Interview - Becoming a Surrogate was Life Changing
Any closing thoughts you have for surrogates or for women who are thinking about this?
For us it was life changing for the better. You know, we got to meet amazing people, we got to add to our family, we did it with a couple from another country and our kids learned all about that other country, the culture and the language. For us it taught our children about being selfless and giving and helping other people, because they have to genuinely think about that. When we told them about what we were going to do, they didn't understand. So we explained, some people can't have kids and I can, you know what do you think? And they thought it was sad. I asked "so wouldn't you want to help them?" and they were like "yeah". It made not just me and my husband not think about ourselves, but our children. I just think it is an amazing, wonderful thing you can do for your entire family and then help another family. So I highly recommend it. I think that people should do it, honestly it is a totally crazy, random weird thing. When people hear it, it totally shuts everybody up in the room. They are like "what? You're having a baby for someone?" and I'm like "well I've had two babies for someone" and then people ask you questions. It's a really cool, amazing thing you can do and I recommend it and I just think everyone should try it.
